DAF Direct

If you have a Donor Advised Fund at Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon, you can use DAF Direct's secure widget to recommend a donation to BUILD. Follow this link and select your financial institution.  When you hit the Next button on the widget, it will take you to your fund's website to complete the donation.

Direct Funds to a Specific BUILD Region

All BUILD offices share the same tax ID number and are not listed as separate entities in your DAF directory.  If you would like to restrict your gift for use in a specific region, please write the name of the BUILD Region using the "Designation" area when you recommend your gift.

If you would like your funds to support BUILD's National office, you can keep the default "where needed most" designation.

Paying for an event sponsorship or tickets with a Donor Advised Fund

Per IRS rules, you can only pay for the tax-deductible portion of your event tickets or sponsorship via a Donor Advised Fund. You must use an alternative payment method to cover the fair market value of any gifts you are receiving in association with a special event.

For example, if you purchase a $1,000 event ticket and BUILD has determined that the fair market value of the food & beverage provided at the event is $200 per person, you can recommend an $800 grant from your DAF and pay the additional $200 via a personal check or your credit card at build.org/donate.

Benefits vary by event.  Please ask your contact at BUILD or email gifts@build.org to find out the value of any benefits you may be receiving prior to recommending a grant from your DAF.
